About Nebraska State Accountability: NeSA

Nebraska State Accountability is a system of summative tests being developed in Reading, Mathematics, and Science.  The first operational reading test, NeSA-R, will be offered in the spring of 2010; the first mathematics operational test in 2011, and science will follow in 2012.  The tests are offered in grades 3-8 and 11 and are administered both online and paper/pencil.  Items have been developed by Nebraska teachers and Data Recognition Corporation has served as the test support vendor.  The online administration is delivered by Computerized Assessments and Learning (CAL).

Online test administration is supported through training tools, tutorials, and practice experiences.  Over 83% of Nebraska students in 2010 will take the first reading test online, and 77% of the students will be field testing mathematics online.  The NeSA program is the first summative tests offered in the state of Nebraska.
