Here you can download the software needed to set up your school labs to participate in testing. CAL is the test delivery software that students will use to take the test and you will need to install it on every computer that will be used for testing.
There are two ways to set up your labs for testing:
Option 1: CAL testing online. This is the easiest way to configure your lab to participate in testing. In this scenario, you will need to download and install the CAL software on each of the computers to be used for testing. Each end client computer will interact directly with the CAL Data Center during a test session. Figure 1 shows how this scenario works.
Option 2: CAL testing online with the Local Caching Software (LCS). In this scenario, you will need to install the CAL software on each computer to be used for testing (as indicated in option 1), and you will also need to install the LCS on one of your school computers. Each end client computer will also need to be configured to interact with the LCS. Figure 2 depicts how this scenario works.

Which setup will best suit my school's needs? For many schools, option 1 works fine. However, for schools that have limited bandwidth and need to test a large number of students simultaneously, option 2 is recommended. CAL's experience is that a school with a T1 connection should be able to test up to 150 students simultaneously without LCS.
If you are not sure if you need to install the LCS, we recommend conducting a simulated test using the Practice tests, prior to the actual testing window. If you experience long delays while the tests are loading, you can then install the LCS and configure the client computers to work with the LCS.
